It has been a month since I launched the A Bookish Baker Book Club on Instagram. One month. And I cannot get over how quickly it has grown, how people have embraced it and said it was perfect for them. The messages I get from people, the support and the enthusiasm. It is as heartwarming as the books we read. Truly lovely.

The A Bookish Baker Book Club is there to share cosy comforting fireside reads (click on the link for the original introductory post). A place to chat about the monthly pick and a place to recommend other books you’re reading and have enjoyed.
The pick for October was The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan. If you haven’t read it yet there’s still time. I will be doing a round up on video (possibly Instagram Stories of IGTV) with people’s thoughts towards the end of the month.
I also have other plans for the group. For example I’m currently designing some Instagram Story templates so people can write mini-reviews and we can get discussions going.
And the group is very much about community. I’m asking a Book Club member to select the December Book Club pick and this month I gave you a choice between two for November.
The more books shared and recommended the better it will be. I also appreciate any suggestions to make the even club better. I’m still getting used to the best way of sharing people’s recommendations so bear with me as I get into a rhythm and routine with it.
But now it is time to introduce the November pick. I like to let people know what it’s going to be before the month starts as I know some of you order it from the library and there can be a waiting list.
During November we are going to be reading The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde by Eve Chase. I gave the book club members a choice of two books and this one just pipped the alternative at about 55%. (The alternative was Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon which we’ll read during one of the months in 2019.)
The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde is set, according to the blurb, in the middle of a heatwave. (I think we can all remember what a heatwave feels like!)
