I've always enjoyed telling my chicken and nature stories on my blog but I got distracted by 'niching' and 'writing for an audience' instead of simply telling the tales I wanted to tell.
Whilst I was on my holiday last week I had that time away from my laptop and thought about how I wanted to spend my online time. And I knew it was by sharing stories about my chickens, ducks, writing, reading, baking - so that's what I'm going to concentrate on.
Having decided this I felt a little bit brave. And decided to start properly vlogging. Talking to camera about my little adventures outside. My Instagram Stories are sometimes more popular than my main Instagram picture. There's an audience all over the world who like to watch the progress of my ducks and chickens - so it's an expansion upon that.
In preparation I've been watching Zoella's vlogs. Along with her boyfriend Alfie's. I mean, these two know what they're doing when it comes to vlogging and I have the utmost respect for them. It's not as easy as they make it look.
I don't really do make-up, or shopping for that matter so I knew my vlogs would quite possibly be a little bit boring in comparison. (But hey, who's comparing - it's the thief of all joy, right?!)
But I'm doing something I want to do. I might be a bit shaky on the old camera, a little bit out of focus and move my camera too quickly sometimes, but if I waited until I was perfect I wouldn't do it at all.
In essence I am practising what I preach. I'm giving it a go and hoping to get better the more I do it.
What about you? Have you decided to be a bit brave and try something different?
This is me being brave; vlogging outside with my fruit trees...
